It's a cycle:

I dream of the art I want to make! I make the art!

I photograph the art, edit the photographs, I send photographs to the printmaker, I approve the prints, I receive the prints, I photograph the prints, I list the prints on my website with fun descriptions to encourage good sales and SEO, I send out a newsletter that says "Look at my new art and my new prints! Maybe collect them!"

I post photos of art and prints and maybe I edit some process videos and post those too, with trendy captions and hashtags, to advertise that I have made these things and you can buy them! 

Some days, I spend more time updating product listings and tweaking my website than I do sketching or painting or doing anything with my hands not connected to a computer or a phone...

AND! I'm a new Mom! I have a 6 month old to tend to, love on and teach!

SooOOOooo I've learned it's all a work in progress, I give myself a lot of grace - and you know what, like my art... sometimes the painting is never COMPLETED. But you find a place where it feels good and you can rest there for a while.

My website isn't separate from the art... it is part of the art. The way I present my work , tell my story, and connect with collectors is a creative act all of it's own. If I look at it this way, it becomes a process of freedom. Like, wow! I am actually able to do all this myself, and not wait for someone else to do it for me?? How do I learn how to do it BETTER?
